Back to the Blog

Hey y’all as you can tell, I haven’t posted a blog in a little while. Today it’s been raining all day, so I figured now would be a great time to get back to blogging! Lately, life has been pretty busy. At the end of June, we will be moving a few miles down the road to a newer, very nice place. I couldn’t be more excited, but this moving stuff can be stressful at times. So much to do, so little time? What to pack first? Am I prepared to work hard moving stuff on moving day? How will I organize the new place? These are only a few of the many many questions that come to my mind everyday. For now, I’ve got some boxes packed & am getting an idea of how to organize our new place. To be honest, I have OCD & times like this is when it truly comes in handy. I have even resorted to making ” to do lists” & “moving checklists” to make sure everything important gets done on or before moving day. Anyone else like to make lists or handwritten reminders? I find that it really helps me to relax & take some of the stress away! Now if only moving day could just hurry up!

Taco Tuesday

Hey y’all we’ve made it to another Taco Tuesday! Besides Friday, it’s my other favorite day of the week. Since I was a kid, I’ve always enjoyed Mexican food. My absolute favorite is tacos, particularly soft tacos. But I can’t resist some chips & salsa, queso or guacamole! Every Tuesday, I like to make tacos at home & of course that means I have to get chips & salsa too! Do you look forward to Taco Tuesday too? Do you prefer hard or soft tacos? What do you like better- queso, guacamole, or salsa?

Bowling: Fun to Play All Day

Lately my husband & I have been going bowling regularly. We recently got our own bowling balls & have been practicing weekly & I have to say, practice is paying off. When we first started bowling, my highest score per game never exceeded 70. However, yesterday that all changed- finally! After spending hours at our local bowling alley practicing yesterday, I finally began to understand what my husband meant by muscle memory. Apparently, my body & muscles are finally getting a feel for the actions I take when I am bowling. Since I have my own personal ball now, I have been learning to adjust to the weight & feel of that ball. Also, I have finally found a form that is working for me when I bowl. As a result of working on consistency with my form & tons of practice, I actually noticed some improvements in my game yesterday. For the first time ever, I scored over 100- twice! I was so proud of this new accomplishment, I could hardly contain my excitement! I guess I needed to be reminded that practice really does make perfect, or in my case- progress! Do you like to go bowling? What sports or games do you enjoy playing in your free time?

Friday Faves

Hey Y’all it’s Friday finally! This week seemed to go by super slow for some reason. Maybe it’s because Easter is just around the corner! Despite having a long week with tons of rainy weather, I still got out & tried some new things. I discovered some new favorite drinks this week & plan to get them often all spring & summer long. The first drink I found at Target was Pure Leaf brand’s caffeine free mango hibiscus tea. It’s so refreshing & tasty, I can’t seem to get enough of it! The second drink I tried was at Starbucks. Usually, I order the same drink at Starbucks that I have always had for years. But I decided to try something new & I’m so glad I did! I tried an unsweetened iced passion tea with strawberries, two stevias, & coconut milk. It was so tasty & refreshing, I couldn’t resist getting another one the next day. Something else I have tried & been loving this week is some blue light glasses from Amazon. They really have helped my eyes not feel so sore & strained from the hours I spend on the phone & computer. Also, I haven’t been experiencing my normal headaches that usually hit me after hours of looking at the phone. The best part- these TIJN brand glasses were $20 on Amazon! This week I have also come to love aviator sunglasses. I got a pair under $10 at Walmart & the pink shade of the lenses seems to go with pretty much any outfit! I love how comfortable they are & they look super cute! Something else I have really been loving this week is the Dove body mousse. I may or may not have previously mentioned this in Friday faves, but it’s THAT good!! The coconut smell reminds me of being on a beautiful beach or Carribbean island! And I can’t emphasize enough how smoothe & silky my skin feels after each use. I literally feel like a new woman every time I use this body wash mousse & it feels ahhmazing! How was your week? Are you ready for Easter? What products are some of your faves?

Travel Talk Tuesday

Since Spring is finally here & the weather is warmer, it has me daydreaming of a vacation. This summer, my husband & I are hoping to take a trip back to the beach. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved the beach. I love the sound of the waves & hearing seagulls all around, while soaking up the sun. There’s nothing better thsn waking up, going to spend a day at the beach & the pool on a beautiful summer day. As the sunlight fades, we go inside to get cleaned up for a dinner and night out on the town. I’ve been looking forward to a beach vacation again for awhile now, so hopefully we can book one soon! We also have been discussing other travel destinations that we would like to visit in the future. Some of those include the midwest, the Caribbean (it’s been far too long since I’ve been), Washington D.C. ( I haven’t been in decades) & maybe even Disney World! With the summer approaching soon, have you thought about traveling? Have you planned any vacations yet? Where would you go if you could travel anywhere in the world?

Dear Monday

It’s nothing personal, but you’re just not my favorite. The weekend seems to have come & gone way too fast. We had so much fun all weekend long & now it’s back to reality. There’s laundry to fold, cleaning & organizing to do. After such a fun-filled weekend bowling, shopping, & relaxing, it’s going to be tough to get back into the swing of things. In case y’all need some Monday motivation, just remember- Friday will make an appearance soon enough! Just grab some coffee, share a smile & wait for the weekend to show up when you need it most. Are you having trouble adjusting to the start of the week? How do you face Monday?

Friday Faves

Happy Friday y’all, we made it to the weekend! This week has been a little rough for me- I had a bad sinus cold that knocked me down for a few days. Aren’t allergies the worst? Despite being a little under the weather, I still found a few new favorite things this week. The first thing I came across was a caffeine free cherry hibiscus tea. Since I try to stay away from caffeine as much as possible & I have been wanting to try hibiscus tea, I couldn’t resist. I’m so glad I tried it because it was so good! I’ll definitely be getting it again sometime. This week I also started using my crockpot again & discovered how much I love crockpot meals. I made shredded chicken in the crockpot for the first time & it came out great! I was delightfully surprised to see how easily the chicken shredded & it made enough for several chicken tacos. Another favorite from this week was my new Pantene leave in hair conditioner. Since I have dry hair, I was looking for a product to provide good hydration. This leave in conditioner did the trick! My hair feels so much softer & feels more hydrated after each use! I think I’ll be using it again when I run out, I’m hooked! How was your week? Do you suffer from allergies? What are your favorite hair products?

Wine Down Wednesday

Well y’all this week seems to be going by quickly, it’s already Wednesday! For me that means it’s the night I like to reward myself with some wine for making it halfway through the week. Most Wednesdays, I cook dinner then unwind with a glass (or two) of wine. It’s relaxing & such a good reminder that the weekend is just around the corner. Recently, I have tried a new favorite wine- Barefoot Pink Moscato. However, I’m always open to new brands & suggestions if y’all want to comment below your favorites. As long as I have my Wednesday evening wine, I know the rest of the week will be just fine! What is your favorite way to unwind after a long day? Do you enjoy wine during the week?

Messy Bun Monday

Well y’all the weekend is done & it’s back to the weekly routine. On Mondays, I get things done- laundry from the weekend, housework & going to the grocery. When I’m on the run, I like to just have a messy bun. Since Monday is also my housework & cleaning day, I prefer to wear a casual tee & comfortable shorts or leggings. No need to dress up if I’m just going aboard the hot mess express, right? So, I have established Messy Bun Mondays. It will be the one day a week that I won’t worry about being “put together” so much. Sometimes loungewear is best & still can look cute. At Target recently, I have found some comfortable solid tank tops and tees that would be perfect for a casual day. Do you like to dress up or keep it casual? Do you like to rock a messy bun?

Save My Nails Saturday

Happy Saturday y’all! I hope the weather is beautiful wherever you are & that the weekend brings you good vibes & great times. As for me, I had a much needed day at the nail salon. With Spring just about in full swing, I had to get a beautiful light color polish. I chose a light turquoise because it reminds me of the beach & is perfect for Spring. There’s something about fresh nails that just feels so great! Now that my nails are beautiful again, it’s time to get home & get ready for date night. We have decided to go bowling again this weekend because it’s so challenging but fun! What are your weekend plans? Do you enjoy getting your nails done? What is your favorite nail polish color for Spring?

New nails & a beautiful day on the balcony with this fur baby
